paradigmslip.ca - Charge former PM Stephen Harper with the public incitement of genocide

Date: _______________________________

CONTEXT

In January of 2014 the former Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, went to the State of Israel and gave a speech where he pledged Canada’s unwavering loyalty to Israel. The Speech can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/AfNd6jJpEMg

The original speech focused on the themes of hate and loyalty. Who hated and threatened Israel and how loyal Canada was to Israel. It mentions the Palestinian cause in passing, saying that Canada would always follow Israel’s lead. It references sophisticated hate speech, twisted logic and outright malice.

In July of 2014, the Harper government released a video (https://youtu.be/hq8MN0OBEO4) supporting Israeli aggression.

In the second video, through use of selected portions of his speech, mixed with a speech by his Foreign Affairs minister, the context of his original speech was altered. Any support for the Palestinian cause was removed. Palestinians were dehumanized (human shields) and demonized (dark forces). Again Canada’s eternal loyalty was pledged.

What followed the release of this video was the worst violence against Palestinians until the most recent conflict. Canada’s role in inciting that aggression has never been addressed. Israel’s genocidal aggression has become normalized.
